Well after a long interval, i'm updating my blog with a picture post.
Its the Construction site for Regional Sport Centre, Saidan Kolasib.
This Project is funded by NEC, Govt. of India. The Contractor appointed for this Project is Lushai Engineers Pvt. Ltd, Ramhlun South. under the supervision of Dept. of Sports and Youth Services, Gov. of Mizoram.

Thanks to the undying effort of Pu Zodintluanga, Hon'ble Minister SYS, Mizoram, Pu PC Zoram Sangliana, Minister & MLA Kolasib Constituency, town like Kolasib have taken the first move towards the development of Sports Infrastructure for the youth of Mizoram.

Some of the Facilities Provided (items mention in the DPR) are
1) Residential Hostel.
2) Admin. Officer's Qtr.
3) Chowkidar Qtr.
Sports Facilities
1) Indoor TT Court, Gymnasium,
2) Indoor Stadium for judo.
3) Football Ground
4) Running track
5) Volley Ball Court
6) Facilities for Jeveline throw, Hammer throw, Discuss Throw, Shot Put, High Jump, long Jump, Pole Vault
In addition to these there is a provision for the construction of Drains, Compound Fencing etc.
The total cost of this project is approx 5 Crore.

Its been more than 2 years that i left Information and Communication Technology Dept. Govt. of Mizoram where i worked as a Web Content Developer for about a year.
Though I'm always near to my Inbox I hardly surf the net looking for tutorials, scripts, codes, CMS etc..

On the 10th of July I got a call from my friend inquiring me about expenditures required for having a website for their Organization. (All Mizoram Farmers' Association) AMFU.

I told him the prices of domain and webspace and the next word was "Will you do it for us?". "Am busy, you may fine many good web designers/developers in Aizawl who will do the jod, and by the way I'm too much out of touch". He Insisted and I had to say my favourite word "Yes".

I have a friend, a good web designer "Lalremlien". I haven't been in touch with him since the old IRC days. So i dont know if he still comes online as his blog dont update frequently. So I said to myself "why? this is the time to try out WP. Everyone said that its a powerfull tool and that it can be easily customised for Organizational website or for a portal.

So i downloaded the software, surf for some themes, picked few ones ( This was a good contender), i played with it, it was too complicated.. all those loops in WP variables tags etc.. so i mailed my friend Lalremlien asking for help.. also sent him sms about the mail that i have sent him.

"Very ugly theme... start from the scratch" was the reply

This was my next stop. Its a great too. Anyone intrested in developing website using Joomla, WP should have this. picked up few graphics, styles from the templates that came with this software.

Today 2nd April 2009 12:08 AM, while I was browsing YouTube something strange happened. All of a sudden the texts and the video were flipped. I was shocked! The Texts looks Hebrew at first glance, I thought to myself "Yeah... yeah... even YouTube makes mistake. I'll take a screen shot an post it around" hit the print screen, minimized my Firefox, then opened abobe photosop and pasted the picture (of course I edited my other open website address) ad said to myself "will i be the only one spotting this?" then I looked at the picture closely, Ah! I found a readable text "Tips for viewing the new layout", "oh! So this was not a mistake, it was indeed an experimental play by some YouTube engineers". I opened my Firefox again and checked out the tips. Here are the tips (Screen Shot below)

For 2 years 2004-2006 i have been using AVG, Simply because its free. Then comes another 3 months of trying different anti virus like Avast, Kaspersky, Norton AV, Trend Micro and lastly i settled for NOD32 (easy to find update and working crack, with which we can update easily). Then comes the new breed of Virus (the ones you find in Pen Drives:- driveguard.exe, autorun.inf calling different exe files etc..) many of these were not detected by my Anti Virus so I decided to change my AV. I tried Bit defender since it was rated No 1; i found out that its too resource hungry and my system became very slow after i installed Bitdefender. Then i moved on to Nod32 Business edition. Problem here is that it was difficult to update offline (or generate offline update file)and then many times I just was not able to update my database because of the cracked version that i was using. Finally i changed my Antivirus again to Kaspersky AV 2009. I was working fine with updates every now and then. Then again today my Key (downloaded from a warez site) was blacklisted. At first i thought i will have to change my Antivirus again, but after checking some warez forum i found out that many people were using pirated version of Kaspersky too and that today itself there is a release of new keys that work with the anti virus. I'm posting the link to the key incase someone needs them.

A curious feature of the lingering insurgency in the north-east is that while guerrillas suffer in their hideways, mostly tuck¬ed away in terrains, the lead¬ers live in self-exile and appa¬rent comfort in foreign coun¬tries. While the insurgents have chosen to stay away from their families, all their ack¬nowledged leaders are cooling their heels in alien soils with members of their families. Such differences in lifestyle have caused many upheavals in the ranks of the ethnic in¬surgents.

Where are the leaders now? What are they doing abroad lands? Piecing together an account of their present living standards, away from their struggling comrade-in-arms, and often without any feed¬back from the guerrilla thea¬ters, one gets a glimpse into a fascinating new element in the continuing drama of the troubled north-east.

Angami Zapu Phizo, who first kindled the fire of ethnic insurgency in this strategic re-gion in 1956, is now in Eng¬land. Belonging to the Gwizantus clan of the Angami Nagas and a product of the famous Khonoma village, Phizo steered the Nagas to the seces sionist path by organising a plebiscite on the issue of "in¬dependence" of Nagaland in 1951 and then forming the underground Naga Federal Government (NFG) on October 6, 1959. This rebel godfather, now aged 79, lives in a spa¬cious cottage in Bromley, Kent. His eldest daughter Adino and eldest son Kevilevor, a management graduate, stay with him. His Rengma-Naga wife Jwane, who lives alone in Phi-zo's house in Kohima, occa¬sionally receiving letters from her husband, letters which contain homilies and excerpts from the Bible.

For Phizo, it has been a long innings of self-exile. He escaped a well-laid security net in Nagaland in 1965 by crossing over to erstwhile East Pakistan, on his way to Eng-land.

Another rebel expatriate in England is Mizo National Front (MNF) president Laldenga. This 56-year-old architect of the Mizo chauvinism left the country in April 1982 after a six-year hibernation in south Delhi, during which time many an abortive discussion was held between him and Central leaders to usher in lasting peace in troubled Mizoram.

He now leads a cosy life in a Victorian cottage named Ven-ables House, at Constitutional Hill in Surrey. His wife Biakdiki and the children are his only companions in the house. His eldest son David is at Aizawl and his eldest daughter is a junior doctor in a Delhi hospit¬al. He maintains a feeble link with his 300-odd diehards in' Bangladesh sanctuaries through an MNF liaison cell in Dhaka.

Bejoy Hrangkhwl, the enigmatic leader of Tripura's secessionist tribal body Tripura National Volunteers (TNV), is now in Miani reserve forest in the Chittagong hills tract in Bangladesh with his wife Linda and two children. Hrankhal, who allegedly orga-nised the 1980 June massacre in Tripura, jumped bail in Au¬gust 1982 and slipped into neighbouring Chittagong Hills. While he is a enjoying the hospitality of his Bangladeshi mentors, his 100-odd tribal fol¬lowers are degenerating into bandits in the absence of the proper leadership.

T. Muivah, the general secretary of the pro-Beijing National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN), has also been in self-exile since 1973 in upper Burma, opposite Arunachal Pradesh, liaisoning with pro-Chinese Kachin insurgents and remote-controlling the moves of a hook-up between northeast's myriad rebel gangs. He is living with a Tangkhul Naga girl from east Manipur's Somdal village.

The new Ojha (messiah) of the Maoist People's Liberation Army (PLA) of Manipur, S. Temba Singh is also in upper Burma, leading an 80-member gang and enjoying the hospi¬tality of the firendly Nagas and Kachins there. Temba's Kuki wife Mary is also with him.

With the fourth Assembly elections in the Union Territory of Mizoram due in the month of April, The Sentinel decided to meet several political leaders in Mizoram to find out about their election plans. Today we carry excerpts from the 45-minute long exclusive interview NITON A GOKHALE had with the Chief Minister, Brig T. Saio, at Aizawl on Friday.

Q: Looking back at the first 5-year term that your Ministry is about to complete, how would you rate your performance and what do you think are the major achievements?
Ans: I will say the showing has been reasonably good. We have at least been able to make a meaningful beginning as regards our basic needs such as self sufficiency in food, adequate supply of drinking water, and production of hydel power. This was not done before. We have identified the priorities and have proceeded in that direction.

Q: So, while seeking the people's mandate for the third rime, what will your Party offer the common man?
Ans: We would like to tell them to give us a chance to build on the good beginning we have made in implementing the deve¬lopmental plans.

Q: In effect this will be you Party's campaigning slogan for the forthcoming elections?
Ans: I don't believe in campa¬igning just 2 or 3 months before the elections and telling the people a whole tot of lies. We have been campaigning for the last five years through our work. And since I'm a 100 per cent politician I like to show results.

Q: What about the MNF issue?
Ans: We stand by our policy that there should be an end to the insurgency in Mizoram thro¬ugh peaceful means with mini¬mum use of force.

Q: In this context how do you view the role of the security forces?
Ans: The common man and the Army have come much closer now and no longer do they distrust each other. This was not there before and I think this is our greatest achievement.

Q: But one of the Opposition parties, the Mizo Convention (MC) maintains that you came to power by criticising the Army.
Ans: They are twisting the facts. I criticised the strong arm measures employed by the Army. I have always said that the Army should take the people into confidence while tackling the insurgency. We have succeeded tremendously in that respect. Now the situation is under comp¬lete control and people prefer this peace.

Q: Coming to the Chakma infiltration, what measures has your government taken to solve the problem?
Ans: The Army and the BSF battalions have been deployed at the border areas to detect and push back the post-‘7I entrants and we are following the Centre's guidelines in this regard.

Q: Is this problem similar to the Assam issue?
Ans: To a lesser extent, yes. In Assam the infiltration has been going on for a long period and hence the magnitude of the problem is much greater. If we don't take steps now we may face the same situation later.

Q: So where does the solution lie in this respect?
Ans: You see the construction of barbed wire fencing is all right in theory but it is not at all practicable. To effectively check the infiltration there should be more jeepable tracks near the border and the distance between the check posts should not be more than 4 or 5 km.

Q: How do you view the recent decision of the All Assam Students Union IAASU) to form a regional party?
Ans: I think it is a step in right direction. .What Assam needs now is a strong and stable regional party to fulfill the aspirations of the people

Q: It means that you also favour the regional parties to the national ones?
Ans: Yes. What is wrong in that? In fact I strongly feel that a stable regional party with a national outlook like our own People's Conference will serve the cause of the common man better than the so-called national parties. Every state wants to keep its ethnic identity, land and religion intact. But this does not mean that we are anti-national.

Q: How about Statehood for Mizoram?
Ans: It is long overdue, and it has been our Party's demand right from the beginning.

Q: You spoke about keeping the ethnic identity intact. So if Statehood is granted will your Party also demand some Constitu¬tional safeguards as in case of J & K?
Ans: No. We would be satisfied with the implementation of Art. 371 A of the Constitution.

Q: Do you envisage any role for the Chief Ministers of the N-E States in solving the problem in Assam?
Ans: It would be preposterous on my part to say that 1 can help in solving the vexed issue. So many brilliant people have tried their hand and have failed. 1 will not like to do such a thing.

Q: You were invited to the Opposition conclave at Calcutta. Any special reasons for keeping away?
Ans: No special reasons. I was just busy here.

Q: Or were you afraid of antagonising Mrs Gandhi?
Ans: Why should I be afraid, of her. Besides, being a very small State I don't think my presence would have made am difference.
Q: Has your government laced any difficulties regarding funds from the Centre?
Ans: No. None al all.

Q: One last question. Do you think your Party will be adversely effected by the recent resignation of the Education Minister and his consequently joining the Congress-I?
Ans: There is no question of any adverse effect since no one has followed him.

Speculations will continue as 'far as the question of mid¬term poll goes but there are no marks for guessing as regards to the Assembly elections in Mizoram. The Union Territory will go in .for "the battle of ballot" —only fourth of its kind since Mizoram was formed in 1972 - in April. .
Accordingly all the contestants have drawn the battle lines and it will be only a question of time when they go in for real action. In fact the railing People's Confer-ence had an extended session of its executive committee in Aizawl last week to decide the election strategy.

The Congress-I, on its part has divided the Union Territory into five zones, each of them headed by a senior PCC-I official to carry out systematic campaig¬ning in all the 30 constituencies.

The other two parties, the Mizo Convention (MC) and the Mizo Union (MU) have identified the issues over which they will fight the elections and have began sending its volunteers to the interior areas.

Highlighting the achievements of its government will be the main aim of the People's Confer¬ence. As the party general secre¬tary, Mr K. Lianchia said, "we will ask the people to give us a chance to complete the develop¬ment works which we have began so successfully."

But Congress-I naturally thinks otherwise, Claimed the MPCC-I general secretary, Mr Sainghaka: "The actual portion reaching the common man is meagre and only a select few have gained from the huge amounts spent on the projects. "We will therefore promise the people a clean administration. They are fed up with the corruption and nepotism that exists in the present govern¬ment." Even the vice-president of the Mizo Convention, Mr J. Thanghuama otherwise comple¬tely opposed to the Congress-I agrees with Mr Sainghaka on the charges of corruption.

In the circumstances, all the three Opposition parties, the Mizo Convention, Congress-I and the Mizo Union see an eye to eye-on the issue of corruption and the ever-present MNF problem. While the Mizo Convention and the Congress-I are ready to step down (that is if they come to power) in favour of Mr Laldenga if the Centre accepts his terms, the Mizo Union would like to go with the consensus not because it supports the cause of the MNF but because through past experi¬ence they have learnt that "antagonizing the MNF means bringing untold miseries to the people".

Another point of focus will be the question of Chakma infil¬tration. Though the Congress-I maintains that it is not such a big problem as made out to be, the Mizo Convention and the Mizo Union are likely to make it a point to put everything behind the demand to detect and deport the Chakmas. Asserted the MC vice-president: "We are going to make the Mizos aware of the threat of assimilation."

Coming to the possibility of seat adjustments, it seems that the Mizo Convention and the Mizo Union will come to some sort of agreement.

Talking to shopkeepers, stud¬ents and some middle and lower level government employees, one gets the impression that they prefer the prevailing peace and thereby the present government.

As a senior bank officer rightly commented the common man might as well give another chance to the present ministry. But as if to remind them that they are not irreplacable the people will vote them back to power with a reduced margin!”
In any case it is too early to predict anything though it remains to be seen what impact the recent decision of the Centre to declare the MNF as unlawful will have. Another factor to be watched is the possible effect of the resignation of the Education Minister
and his joining the Congress-I. There have been counter claims on this aspect.

The Mizo Convention (MC) is a force to reckon with in the Mizoram political field. A combination of three pro-Laldenga groups it is a staunch advocate of the MNF cause. I met their vice-president, Mr J Thanguama in the party office on a warm, sunny afternoon. An eloquent speaker, he spoke at length about various issues in Mizoram. Excerpts.

ON THE PRESENT GOVERNMENT
"It is not sympathetic to the cause of the MNF and it does not want the problem to be resolved. The government talks about developmental plans but the Mizo Convention feels that unless there is permanent peace there can not be any develop¬ment. ON CORRUPTION:
"The current administration is corrupt, no doubt but the Congress-I is more dangerous in this respect in the sense that it is corrupting the Mizo society as a whole by pouring in lot of money obtained from the Centre."

Been very busy this week

I had a tight schedule last week. Went to Aizawl and then visited Vairengte and Bilkhawthlir.
Last week i visited Aizawl for some work, i had to submit my last project lelte.net to the editor. We had a good time discussing about the website but it was due to the Broadband problem that i couldn't demonstrate the website to him.
This Tuesday i got information that Shri Sudip Roy Barman, Mla Tripura is visingting our district. He is sent by All India Congress Committee as an election observer. We had a good chat session at my residence along with his companion Mr Tlangkhuma Gen. Secy MPCC and Block Officers of Congress party. We discussed various topics like Congress's Party chance of winning the 2008 MLA Election, prospective candidate for Kolasib Constituency. In the evening at 7 we had another meeting with our election observer and various Party Unit leaders. The same thing was discusssed and Mr BArman gave a short speech. The meeting eneded at 9 PM.
The next day we (I, Block President, Kolasib and a Mahila Leader) accompanied him to Vairengte and Bilkhawthlir where the same issue was discussed. The Block Officers there felt that congress have a good chance of winning the election provided a good candidate is nominated by the party. It was a tiring day and after returning to Kolasib at 7 we met few important congress leaders at Kolasib and i reached home at 11 PM.
On Thursday I accompanied the observer on his visit to the residence of Mr Bazirama, MCS Rtd. and Mr Engsanga (Ex Block President). He left Kolasib at around 9 AM.
It was a great relief when he left Kolasib as two days of controlling my tongue made me very uneasy (i'm quite talkative) but it was indeed a great experience being with Mr Sudip Roy Barman.
Friday: I went to Aizawl to get my nephew's eye check up. I stayed a night there and and while returning fom Aizawl We were delayed on the Highway because of a recovery van trying to pull out an accident truck. It was a long 2 hours wait and that too they faid their task and after much request they decided to let the traffic pass before they start with their work again.

5&6 : I visited Aizawl DTO's office and I find it strange to see that there isin't a single chair for the customers (or public). I accompanied my friend to get his Registration Certificate and we had to wait for about 2 hours standing in the office. We were not offered any seat during our stay. I have seen some office that is without chair/bench for customers but those are basically a counter type of office (like bus tricket booking office etc...) but this was inside the office (the cash counter is outside this building where we had to stand in a que). Someone reading this blog kindly inform your relative/family/someone you know who is working at this office so that some chairs/bench may be kept.

After a long days of Editpad pro and 15-20 tabs of pages in Firefox and Adobe Photoshop CS 2.. Finally i have completed www.lelte.net.

Its kinda complete makeover. Earlier they used joomla 1.0.13 .. i upgraded into 1.5 (which was a totally new core and it was almost line a new installation rather than an upgrade)... New templated modules ... arrangin contents into sections and categories (according to the print magazine) and then fine tuning it with image gallery and youtube video module.

Minister of state for home Ram Dulari Sinha told that the ban was in view of the unlawful activities carried on by the Mizo National Front.

The long bamboo poles held by the girls clash rhythmically as they form squares into which the dancers step in and move with a certain sinuous grace as they perform the 'Cheraw' dance. The gaily col¬oured cloth wrap-around petticoat-like skirt called the 'Punachei' and the front-open blouse called the 'Kawrechi' add just the right touch to this graceful dance.

The Cheraw dance is per¬formed to drive away a spirit called 'Khawring' which is said to have a penchant for possessing women. But these days the Mizos, who were animist and are now Christians, perform the dance on ceremonial occasions. Because bam¬boos are used, it is wrongly called ‘bamboo dance’.

Cheraw calls for great al¬ertness and agility from the dancers apart from an inherent sense of rhythm. But then dance and music are a part of the lifestyle of the easy¬going Mizos. They make fine handicrafts like bas¬kets and earthen pots.

They also make an intox¬icating drink called 'Zu' which is made from rice. Until the uprising of March 1966, hardly any¬thing was known about the Mizos. Mi means 'men' and Zo means ‘hill’. Mizo meaning 'hill-men'. Their's is a casual lifes¬tyle which would have been approved by Kerouac himself. They are a patriarchal society. There is ban on a man marrying outside his clan and there is no ban on divorce.

If anyone wandering in the Mizo hill hears the rhythmic clash of bam¬boos, then he can be sure that a Cheraw dance is in progress somewhere in Mizoram.

The Mizoram Assembly elections in April can spring many surprises. The possibility of various dissimilar elements coming together for limited purposes is not ruled out.

Laldenga's son Mr David Danmawia’s "hobnobbing" with the Congress (I) is an indication of this. Whether he has joined the party or not, he was prominent among the organizers at Aizawl for the recent general conference of the north eastern Congress (I) co-ordination committee which was addressed by Mr Rajiv Gandhi. Mr Danmawias had his college education in New Delhi during the years of protracted negotiations between the Centre and Laldenga.

The Mizo Church leaders, who met Laldenga in London sought a meeting with Mrs Gandhi. She apparently was not aware of their meeting with Laldenga. She is believed to have indicated to the Mizoram Congress president, Mr Lal Thanhawla that she welcomed initiatives to solve the Mizo problem. Mr Danmawias is close to his father and had undertaken important “missions” including an authorized visit to the MNF headquarters in the Chittagong Hill Tracts now looked after by Tawnluia. Laldenga's charisma is still relevant but hotheads like the ''tactical com¬mander" Lalrawna can create problems for him. Lalrawna's men have infiltrated into Mizoram and are in rural hideouts awaiting instructions which will include, almost certainly, threats to the ruling People’s Conference candidates and other measures to sabotage their prospects.

Apart from the underground factor, Brigadier Sailo, the Chief Minister, will have to contend with a sustained Opposition campaign against alleged corruption among his Ministers. It cannot be denied that the style of living and income levels among his Ministers and top party leaders are not what they were accustomed to.

Mr Rajiv Gandhi’s visit virtually helped to launch the party's poll campaign in the Union Territory. Meghalaya’s Captain Sangma, who went by road to Aizawl with the delegates, largely Garos (the Khasi leaders were busy with their dis¬trict council elections on March 15) addressed impromptu meetings at Vairengte, Kolosib and two other places between Silchar and Aizawl. According to party sources, the meetings were well attended with a good percentage of youths.

The Mizos are not demonstrative but are more critical than other tribals. It would appear that regionalism will be one of the issues. Brigadier Sailo, observers feel, will seek a mandate for a regional party rather than emphasize the anti-MNF line. Dr J.H. Rothuama of the Mizoram Convention, an amal¬gam of the old Janata and People’s Conference, "BBS" the breakaway group (Laldenga's brother Ngurchhina, an MLA belonging to the group) and Brigadier Sailo may come together in opposing the Congress (I), although nothing may be said formally. The Chief Minis¬ter brought Dr Rothuama into politics and he was elected to Parliament. He came under Laldenga’s influence and parted company with Brigadier Sailo. He was re-elected to the Assembly in 1979 on the P C "BBB" ticket. The Mizoram Peace Forum which consists of elements from the Mizo Zirlai Pawl and political lightweights is likely to harass both the Congress (I) and the ruling party.

The shadow of the New Delhi convention of Congress(I) MPs and MLAs over the last weekend hung heavy over the fourth meeting of the North-East Region Congress(I) Coordination Committee, held here on March 7. Most regional Congress(I) leaders did make it but seemed more worried about making it to the capital on time rather than in the deliberations.

Assam chief minister Hiteswar Saikia, Manipur chief minister Rishang Keishing and Nagaland chief minister S.C. Jamir, used IAF helicopters to fly in and out of Aizawl. The chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Mr Gegong Apang perhaps realising the problems of logistics, preferred to go straight to Delhi rather than attend the meeting here.

Chief guest Rajiv Gandhi, scheduled to stay two nights here on his maiden visit, made only a fleeting appearance. He flew in on the morning of March 7 in a hired aircraft, accompanied by the Union minister of state for home, Mr Ramdulari Sinha, covered the 23-km distance between the airport and the town in a heli¬copter, and flew back to Delhi the same afternoon to 'super¬vise the preparations for the capital show.

Even the number of dele¬gates was kept to a minimum: Meghalaya chief minister Capt. Williamson Sangma, who drove here from Shillong in convoy of cars, brought with him the greatest number of delegates, a dozen.

No election planning: Con¬trary to expectations, there were no formal discussions on strategy to be followed by the Congress(I) in next month's elections to the Mizoram Assembly.

The main thrust of the dis¬cussions was on the need to strengthen the party appar¬atus against regional parties. The resolution adopted said that such parties were "irrelevant" because of the emerging need for unity in diversity in the north-east. Mr Keishing even went to the ex-tent of saying that regional parties were "dangerous" be¬cause they directly or indirect¬ly helped secessionists. And yet, oddly enough, there was no call to Congressmen to launch any movement against secessionists.

A major surprise of the eco¬nomic resolution was its call to the Centre to have a fresh look at the criteria of allocation of funds for backward States and Union territories.

The coordination committee acts as the party's apex bureau in the region to further con¬tacts between the various ethnic and linguistic groups. Mr Hiteswar Saikia has been elected the new chairman of the committee, replacing Capt. Sangma, According to an Assam MLA, the significance of Mr Saikia's election is that it shows that the distrust be¬tween the Assamese lead¬ership and tribals is gradually giving way to mutual confi¬dence.

BSNL Dataone

10 days back i got my Dataone (BSNL Broadband), now its time for me to write a review.
I signed up for the unlimited plan (ie UL750) and opted it without a modem. I paid only Rs 500/- at the time of booking and then my Broadband was on. Since last year I had gone to BSNL's office about 5 times just to inquire when they were going to start the Broadband service. The answer was "Next month" and because of this i didn't know what to do when i first got connected. It was like a championship medal for me.
After 10 days my dataone is still doing great. I have downloaded about 7GB most of them are mp3's and karaoke for my wife. If BSNL's service continues like this, then i recommend Dataone for everyone.

The site was built on Flash (with swift) and had about five pages. From there we moved on. public_html was about 700kb and now its 500+ MB. Things have changed. Our data have grown. Back in 2003 i was thinking of making a big project (mizoram based website) but i didn't have the skill nor money. At that time izawl.com was very popular and the one stop for mizo netizens. It was the time when IRC was more popular than Web site, forums, blogs etc.. Nothing much was done to popularize kolasib.com as its a town/district news site and that everyone will not benefit much from it.
Moving on as a small closed community of about 3 regular visitors, kolasib.com now have more than 500 registered users. What does it takes to maintain this kind of website which don't earn revenue? We are still moving just for the sake of it. With less enthusiasm then what we had 4 years back. I cant leave it in the middle. Many people have joined as "the team" and many have gone. From day 1 i was assisted by Zoliana (Kolasib CIC Operator) and then many good friend have taken the trouble to update/maintain the site. Friends like Raymond, Ngura (spelljammer), Zaitea, Highway Juliet, Benjamin, Zothana, Lal, Mnowluck were the ones who made kolasib.com what it is today.
These days claiming "first among mizo's" have become "in". Lets see what I have to claim. :)
1) think we are the first among the 8 districts of mizoram to have a website. Informative websites like izawl.com, zoram.org, hmar.net, maraland.net etc.. were there but you wouldn't browse aizawl.com (though it was there, some non mizos registered it in the hope of selling it at high price latter??), lunglei.com, serchhip.com, mamit.com, lawngtlai.com, saiha.com, champhai.com.
2) We were giving out free email from our own hosting space. Here again hmar.net and maraland.com were giving our free emails on their domains but that was hosted somewhere else
as as you would expect, they were with adds. We had about 35 pop3 users given 2MB each.
3) We started giving out hosting space to individuals and association/organizations for free. george.kolasib.com mnowluck.kolasib.com aizawlchat.com thalaieng.com computer-nest.com zoram.org were just few of them. Some of them are still hosted with us while some of the have moved to a new host.

For bearing the financial cost, at the beginning Rs 1500 was donated by Kolasib Cable Network and around Rs 20,000/- was donated by our Honourable MLA Mr. K. Lalrinliana in words (as you would expect MLA to do) but not a single Rupee reached our hand (This itself is another story, i may write some other time) .

MNF, MCP to abstain from voting

You may have known that the election for the President of India is over and results are out. on the day before polling begins i read the new that MNF & MCP MLA's will be abstaining from voting (link)
The MNF Party President justified their move saying that both of the candidates for the President of India cannot be voted by their party because while one was against the Christian community the other is against North East People. Mrs Pratiba Patil backed by the UPA cannot be voted on the ground that UPA Govt proposed to enact a law suppressing the rights of religious minorities by amending the Constitution (Satana Bill as Pu Zoramthanga mentioned) which should be opposed by all Christian community. Mr Shekawat too while holding the office of the Vice-President & Chairman Rajya Sabha is against the North East People.
The Big Question is "Is the good enough for not voting against the First Person of the country?". When i read about this news at misual.com i thought comments will be pouring in, but only 2 comments on the post till date. I wonder where are those "Thalai ram vei" who kept complaining about politicians in the state. Is this not a big issue?. Mizo Peoples are deprived of voting for the President of India. I'm from Kolasib Constituency. our MLA is Mr K. Lalrinliana (MNF). Since he have not voted for the President, it means that non of the Kolasib people have voted for the President.
The Right to vote is a Fundamental Right. If I or any of the common man have declined to vote in any election then its purely our choice; but MLA abstaining from voting cannot be justified as they are our representative and that their vote is our vote. The People who are supposed to uphold Democracy are themselves not following the principles of democracy. If this is the Level of our MLA/MP then its hight time we get someone who is a Mizo (Indian) first and then a Political Party Member.
Anyway Congratulations "Madam President", wish i had the right to vote for my country's First Citizen!

Playing with Mimi Renthlei

As i have written before, I'm learning Photoshop. So while searching for a suitable photo to play with, Mimi Renthei's pic (which i have in my PC) came into my mind. It not because the picture will look good (after editting) but because i like this little cute girl. So here is my final touchup.

Edited parts
1) Changed (whiten) eye, teeth.
2) Changed Eye to a dark blue colour.
3) Applied lipstick.
4) Touched up the skin (Lighten), including the dark areas around the eye (dark circle)
5) Changed colour of the hair, clothes
6) a small tatoo on her belly.

Fiddling with V3i

This afternoon a my friend Cathy came to my house to get her v3i fixed.
Though i'm not a profession, i can flash, edit seems etc on a motorola L and V series phones. She complained that the keypad "2" is not functioning properly. I checked her phone and it was indeed not functioning as it is supposed to. Repeated typing of number "2" was the problem. At first i though of opening the phone and cleaning the keypad. So i headed to my PC and opened google. i got the Information that i wanted.

I saved the webpage so that i could refer to it later.

Next, i thought why open the phone when it may be a software problem. remembered that i once unlocked a V3 phone and after a successful unlocking the keypad was not functioning so i flashed the keypad fix. SO i searched for the fix file in my computer. After 5 mins of search i got what i wanted. I flashed the keypad fix flex.
Here is where i made the mistake. Afeter Flashing the LCD is not working anymore. I realised that v3 and v3i flex are not compatible.
So i made a backup of the full flash (firmwire, flash, flex etc...) with Flash & Backup. then headed google again for a new original flash. I came to know that v3i have 2 main version one with itune and the other which they call it DAP (i don't know what this is).
My phone is a v3i Itune version. I searched modmymotto, motox, and other motorola modding sites. It was very difficult to get. At last i got R47A_G_08.D9.3DR_REFLASH_JOKER from here which was the closest to my current version.
I downloaded for 2 hours with my airtel gprs connection and then flashed the file. To my surprise my problem was still there. i called up my frient zoliana (co-founder kolasib.com) as he is a Motorola Handset expert. He came within 5 mins and together we worked, searched the net for forum posting of similar problems. Cant find a good result so i posted a new thread here . They refered me to http://www.motox.info/showthread.php?t=47350 .
I went there editted the seem and eventually it (LCD Problem) was fixed. Now at least the phone is at the stage where i got it.
I followed the instruction on how to open the phone. I opened the phone and found that there was a scratch behind the Button "2". I removed that and assembled the phone again. Hurray its working now.

It have been a long time since i touched Photoshop. Last evening while i was browsing through orkut Mizo Grafix Designer (?) and chating with a close friend Alexxfender, i saw many great works of my fellow mizo. Their works were too good to be true. From the community was very much impressed by the works of John and Father_spinx. Alexxfender's work is not bad either. They really impressed me and encourage me to start off learning. I immediately opened up google.com and browsed for photoshop tutorials. Some of the site that really interest me were

My First Post

This is My First Post in this blog.

Blog / Blogging have become very Popular within the Netizens. Due to lack of time and unavailability of a stable Net Connection at Kolasib i have not started blogging (maintaining a blog) till today. Instead i write down my thoughts on websites like kolasib.com , misual.com, zoram.org and some other mizo and Technical related websites/forums.

Today I, formally declare myself as a Blogger and will try maintaining my blog and update them with my thoughts. Remember I may be very extreme with my thoughts but my words die out soon with my anger.
